Shared objectives and mutually beneficial goals are important as a foundation. I suppose opening the lines of communication is the thing I need to work on. I tend to keep discussion to a minimum and let the results be the discussion. Without this communication, I am likely missing a connection to more opportunity. So I need to work to strengthen that, based upon my manager's preferred style. 

I learned to embrace the benefits and the deficits of each team member type. By doing so, we can build processes that allow the various roles to thrive.

Maintaining the value and self esteem of different departments is critical when collaborating. Collaboration Point # 1 is essential because affirming and valuing each department is the most efficient way to get buy in and effort. 

 

It is important to communicate effectively to gain credibility, so knowing the best interaction method for each generation is helpful. Our student base is broad, and as we complete the enrollment process, we have parents, grandparents, spouses and other friends and family members that prefer different communication tactics. 

I've learned what each generation (including my own) values. This helps when planning a conversation or interaction so that the person is more receptive.
