Everyone has different learning preferences whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc. and instructors must adapt their teaching methodologies to accommodate the different learning styles.

In terms of assessment, it should be holistic, not just standardized tests in order to be able to recognize areas of opportunity and strengths for students.

We should not assume that someone who is learning English as a second language is struggling or that they have low literacy skills.  Inversely, we should not assume that someone who is monolingual in English has better literacy in the language than someone who is bilingual or multilingual.

Also, it is helpful to have bilingual instructors when students are learning another language and they should be encouraged to still have access to their mother tongue.

Culture refers to differences in regions, language, food, music, art, etc.  It is important to be aware of cultural differences in our students in order to have appropriate learning outcomes.  We cannot assume everyone is the same; they need to be treated as individuals instead of being grouped together.

Race and culture are not the same; race refers more to physical characteristics whereas culture is more holistic.

I have learned that we must not use stereotypes, generalize or make assumptions as this is detrimental to student success.  Everyone learns differently and we must plan our teaching strategies with this in mind in order to be inclusive.

Depending on the specific nature of the problem, remedies for the complainant may include, but are not limited to:

Providing an effective escort to ensure that the complainant can move safely between classes and activities.
Providing comprehensive, holistic victim services including medical, counseling, and academic support services, such as tutoring.
Arranging for the complainant to have extra time to complete or re-take a class or withdraw from a class without an academic or financial penalty.
Reviewing any disciplinary actions taken against the complainant to see if there is a causal connection between the sexual violence and the misconduct that may… >>>

Second, the Title IX Coordinator should review the grievance procedures to help determine whether they incorporate all of the elements required for the prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints under Title IX, consistent with the Title IX regulatory requirement and OCR guidance, including the requirements related to VAWA crimes.
Third, the Title IX Coordinator should communicate with students, parents or guardians, and school employees to help… >>>

I learned that schools are mandated to assist victims of sexual abuse and harassment by following standard reporting procedures and through the provision of appropriate support to students This protocol therefore serves to ensure a safe, caring and enabling environment for learning and teaching, both inside and outside of the classroom.

I have learned the duties of school employees as "responsible employees" or "mandatory reporters."  Also, how to support students or colleagues who disclose an incident.  Each academic institution must have a Title IX Coordinator who monitors and coordinates the institution's overall compliance with Title IX regulations and state laws.

It is important for the Career Services department to keep in touch with alumni and keep track of their employment.  It is also beneficial to periodically stay in touch with employers and even visit them.

I learned that students should start thinking about career readiness early on in their program, that way when they finish, they are ready to enter the workforce.  They need to be equipped with skills such as interviewing techniques, resume writing, communication skills, etc.
