Activity

I learned that it is important to develop a template for your course modules that provides a consisitant structure to the course. Developing a database of learning objects provides the instructor with content that is easily accessible across one course or multiple courses.

Based on the areas in the module, I would hope that I have a better understanding of what to do in the following areas:

  • Keeping course records.
  • Communicating with students.
  • Counseling students.
  • Dealing with undesirable behavior.
  • Resolving student conflicts.
  • Minimizing student attrition.

At first I was unsure about the vocabulary of asynchronous and synchronous terminology. I have learned that it is extremely important to communicate with the learners and to make sure that you are coming off the way that you intend to. Getting feedback about your interaction with the learners can help for you an the instructor to help with the evaluation of your teaching.

I would see myself really establishing the communication piece, by writing a biography or developing a short video clip about myself. I would encourage others to share about themselves as well.

It is important to develop a working relationship with yor students. You should set times, dates, expectations of discussions, etc. to make the learning meaningful.

In an e-learning environment it is crtical for the content and technology needs to be organized in a logical manner for users. It is imperative to make sure that your learners know the goals of the course and what is expected, along with how communication should take place with the instructor for content, and communication based on technology issues.
