The idea of giving many quizzes and then allowing the students to drop 2 or 3 is a great idea. It would allow the student to choose to make it to class on time. Provide the student with control of the situation, but not be so rigid that the student gives up. Great idea.

I really like the idea of using gestures to communicate to the students during treatment of patients. By communicating with signs and gestures the instructor gets the point across without embarrasing the student or conveying to the patient that the student doesn't know what they are doing. It is a nice way for the student to get feedback without the patient knowing that something is wrong. I use it alot with my students and it seems to work very well.

I thought the ABG Go Fish and the Pulse Point Macarena were novel ways of getting the student to remember complex topics and remembering statistics. Great way of learning a sequence of anatomical structures.

I really like the ways that were given to teach students steps for procedures, like CPR and Hemlich Techniques. Rather than just memorize the steps, which the students will forget, have then visually learn the steps and have something that they can relate to, which will trigger the memory of the task. Great ideas.
I thought the ideas concerning health care education was great. Teaching the students how to listen to a story, then having them describe the persons physical attributes was great, it teaches them how to listen plus evaluate other aspects of the person. Very good for health care professional assesments of a patient. Great idea.

I was wondering how to best reach the adult learner? Is it cognitive thinking skills, hands on learning? Sometimes to learn material, like for example anantomy classes, the student just needs to memorize the material, is it best to include hands on demonstations?
How do you find the balance between treating the student as an adult and trying to discipline them on bad behavior.

Thank you. I appreciate all the information. This should be very useful. Thanks

With the adult learner, I find it difficult to balance pushing too hard and not enough, I find it a challenge to motivate uninterested, especially the one who is smart enough to still do well with their grades.
Thank you for the reply. Sounds like good advice. I will try that. Thanks
