Activity

We have just started online classes for our students since  Corvid19 hit the states. This was very challanging to get all the course material into video format and uploaded but we were able to. Now we need to incoprate the material that was discussed in this chapter. I did not even think about posting a biography. I wil have to try this at the start of the next class.

I did not realize the amount of behind the scene work there is. Going from teaching in front of a class of 30 -60 students to an online class is very different. The need to view, review, and keep in the know of everything seems the same as traditional classroom settings, but the more I look at it the more of a learning curve is required to teach an online class.

At our institute, we have a class for student that are dealing with the general public and customer service. The information that we discussed in this lesson is very similar to what we have in our curriculum for our students. It was nice to see our two curriculums align.

I just finished ML117. I found this training very interesting. I have been an instructor for the last four years. At first I was not prepared well to present, but as time went on I started to become more comfortable. My presentation became more enjoyable not only for me, but also my students. I am amazed after reading thru this, that I actually do a lot of the ideas already discussed. I only wish I would have read this when I first began teaching, I believe it would have made my life a lot easier with fewer mistakes.

I am a Gen X. I never thought about different learning styles until I became an instructor. After reading the material in the training module, I would have to say that I can agree with most of it. A few things I agree with is that Gen Y doesn't not learn well with long lectures, that they do want instant gratification, they are great multitaskers, and the do question the instructor a lot. But from what I have seen in the classroom, although they are very tech savvy, they lack the drive to push themselves. Instead of wanting to learn,… >>>

I have never been one to write down my goals. I have always thought about what I wanted to accomplish and then went from there. After reviewing the information in this module, I have come to realize that I could have accomplished much more by using what I have learned from this module. I guess I would say this is where I need to start making better goals and writing them down. After a year of this method I would like to see how it compares to the way I used to set my goals.

Since I have become an instructor I find that stress levels are sometimes high. It really doesnt matter what you are doing if its something you are not use to it gets stressful. Also working in an environment that has coworkers that have conflicts also adds to the stress. I used to go home and carry the stress with me, made my wife and I miserable. I have learned to deal with the stress by confronting it and trying to have a good time.

After finishig this course I thought back to my classes. I think in my classes I am able to help my students with security by treating them more like co-workers, rather than I am the instructor and you are the student. I also like to have fun in class so it will make them alittle more relaxed and realize that the instructor is a human the same as they are. Once they feel alittle more relaxed they tend to open up more and work harder.
