I have learned that we have to attempt to help the student that feels alienated. We alsoi have to find ways to deal with the intimidators. They are the ones that will say they always get an A and are shocked by their grade. I will point them to the grading rubric.

I really enjoyed learning the different types of meetings. I also learned the different types of students we have in our classes, avoidant, competitive and dependent.

I hold weekly chat sessions but since they are not mandatory the participation is minimal. What strategies are being used to get more students to paraticipate in voluntary chats?

I learned that providing sample of the assignments you are requiring is good. It is alos good to contribute to the discussion boards and do not try and dominate the discussion.

It is not easy keeping them engaged. However, I try to give weekly announcemnts and reminders to help them be successful.

You have to know how the course is set up. This will allow you to know what to expect from the students.
