Hello: As we all know that budget cuts can and do cause difficult situations between management and staff or instructors. I work at a for profit school. Recently we went from 4 printers in the school for students down to 1. This needlessly caused several different responses between everyone including students and staff and staff and management. As a program manager I understand the need to cut corners but as an instructor also I need resources to complete my work. Surprising this event worked its self out. At first everyone was upset but I think that was more because of… >>>

Boy did I make a few when I first started out. I had technical issues with classroom equipment and my first class on this campus. So i had to totally change my delivery quickly. Also there is a phrase called "Death by Power Point" I lost a class or two until I found my grove and only use them as a back drop and not a crutch.

Many of my students are from the inner city and do not have a support system at home. So they are on their own with this goal of becoming a college graduate. So I have found that students need a dose of motivation daily. We are a very small campus with several different disciplines on campus from accounting to dental and other medical. So each student is close to the faculty and staff. We are many times their only source for normalcy. I took it upon my self to start a program called "Understanding our Students." In this program I… >>>

Hello: I just finished a course of marketing and the project was 50% of the grade as outlined in the syllabus. So to meet this requirement I offered ample time in computer labs to assist students in this project. The course was almost over and several students stated that the project was to big to involved. I reminded them of the amount of time they wasted in lab surfing the internet. Part of my teaching style to build skill sets and traits in these students that have been pushed through the public school systems. 1. prioritize your time 2. complete… >>>

Hello: I have been teaching ground classes for several years now. I have found it necessary to have students sign a form that we have discussed all the rules of the classroom and also the outline of expectations for the course. I have also asked them to sign that we have reviewed the grading/project rubrics. This I was surprised to find that the students want and expect from me now. These are adult students and as this course outlined the expectations of everyone needs and has to be outlined in an open forum. Before I started this signing of expectations… >>>

Hello: My school is currently experiencing lack of coaching or motivation. We are a very small school. So program directors have taken it upon our selves to motivate and coach each other during this time. We in the PD office have been able to coach each other with various issues in the school. We have new online program and going through current curriculum changes. each of these takes careful guidance to navigate. We receive minimal instructions and expected to carry out the objectives.

Hello: I have found several ways to reduce stress and how to cope. I have a few hobbies that help me to deal with these issues each day. I play guitar daily and play until I feel comfortable. I do have issues with getting enough sleep. However, I have learned to pace my self and to realize that there is tomorrow. I prioritize task continually and have found this a great way to handle issues.

Hello: I work at a very small school and they ask us to pull double duty on various items. We have many vacant positions and so they do not fill them so we are asked to preform the duties ourselves adding to already heavy workloads. I have found that I need "me time" my family is grown so when I'm away from school I have me time. I do what I want as I want then get back to the task.

Hello Everyone: We all must know our limits when we manage our time and get organized. I have been teaching the same courses for a few years now so My notes are becoming dated or stale so I have been interjecting new material as the industry dictates. This helps keep me up on trends and helps to keep the student involved.

Hello Everyone: I think at times all (4) apply to me. There are days when I have everything under control. Then there are days when I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. I do have list and notes on a note pad and I go over it everyday. I add and delete task all the time. I then use this as a future reference as to when things happen and how I resolved issues. I have times when I just have to many things on my plate and I feel hurried to complete them. I have to take a look… >>>
