Giving clear parameters for communication can deter Text-speak and other forms of poor communication. 

 

There are several ways in which technology can be used to communicate with your students. Unfortunately, we have to stay within the parameters our university will permit for documentation purposes.

 

It is important to provide an engaging and interactive platform for students in both asynchronous and synchronous classrooms.  Using the proper format for what the facilitator wants to deliver is important to insure students are engaged and participating in the learning proces.

 

Using the right tool is very important.  An evaluation provided by the students will give insight a to the effectiveness of the technology tool and its desired outcome.

 

I've learned that the platform is not expected to be static, but to change.  Course shells and materials need updating and frequently visited.

 

Asynchronous communication via discussion boards helps those students who would normally not participate. Synchronous platforms do not. 

 

Developing a relationship with your students promotes a more meaningful learning environment. You gain respect by providing your credentials and expertise, and can open dialog by sharing hobbies and interests.

 

It is important that students understand how to navigate the CMS and I am there to help then navigate and understand the requirements of the course. 

 

It's not about what I know but how I motivate.

 

Overall, I was amazed at the need to be so finite in the description of what is or is not a crime, sexual or otherwise. Over time, there is been a great deal of change thrashing out how to best describe and service those individuals who are hurt.

I have learned that this is so much more involved than I would have thought. Particularly when it comes to what is or is not the school’s responsibility in regards to what crimes are committed. The Clery Geography was of great interest to me. The example that struck me was of the… >>>
