Students need to do mare than just recall facts.  They need to apply their knowledge and skills so they can transition easily to the workforce.  Teachers can help students function at higher level when they ask questions like "What might happen if.." or "What would you do in this situation.."  Thn having students reflect and explain why the chose a certain approach increases the application of their knowledge.

Clear expectation and appropriate positive and negative consequences develops a positive learning environment.  

Building relationships with your students is the foundation of good teaching.  Students need to know you care about them and want to help them succeed in all areas of life.  Taking the time to know your students and know how they are doing each class will help you as the teacher guide the lesson so that all students can learn and be successful.

It important to provide all students with ample wait time.  Teachers can not shorten wait time die to thought regarding student ability.

Developing open ended questions give students opportunities to apply their knowledge and understanding to given situations.  This allows students to gain more understanding and experience to use to further their learning.

Building community and setting expectations is important part of teaching.  Students need to feel a sense of belonging in the classroom.  This will allow them to take risks and learn from mistakes.  Relations building should be a priority for all teachers.

Good planning and being to class early is important to me.  If I am not prepared I get nervous and I know my students can sense it.  I like to be to school an hour early and in the classroom before students arrive to class.  I like to have all my materials set out and the computer screen on if needed.

I am working to develop lesson plans that include different types of presentations, lectures, videos, demonstrations to give variety to the lessons and keep kids engaged.  I also need strategies to keep kids in safety gear.  The kids don't feel safety glasses and safety geat is important.

Modeling in the auto collision shop is an important aspect of teaching.  Students need to know how a collision shop runs and what it looks like.  I have been contemplating taking my students to an autobody shop so they can see employees in action.  This class has encouraged me to do so.

Safety first.  Teaching safety at the beginning of the class, when new tasks arise and revisiting it often is very important in avoiding injuries and accidents;  Students need to understand that safety is the priority in the shop,
