Activity

We all know there are so many different learning methods.  We ourselves go through many stages based on what we're learning, but it's important to remember the different TEACHING methods.  Knowing our options will allow us to target each student in one way or another.  We also learn so much more each time we do it!

Incorporate different methods of teaching because everyone learns different.  Also, when doing lectures, try to not read word for word.  Make it interesting and make each student feel like you're talking to him or her.

Get to know your students first and last names and use them!  Tell them a little bit about yourself and ask them to introduce themselves.  This will offer a little bit of an ice breaker and allow you to know your students better.

Preparation is key.  I have been on the end where I wasn't prepared for an entire day and have run into some very quiet moments where I was at a loss.  I am working on getting better at having backups.

I practice looking professional in the work place and feeling my best.  I believe that in turn allows me to BE my very best.  I wish to lead by example so I hope that if I take pride in myself, my students will as well.

Technology is here and the students will use it in their field and everyday life.  I will embrace it and use it as much as I can during my lessons.  Instructor notes will also be beneficial to fine tuning my lesson plans for each class to come.  I will do my best to gear each lesson to the different learning styles and keep the students engaged.

Learning objectives must be clear, concise and measurable.  They will help guide the procedure of my lesson plan.

Organization is key.  I struggle with keeping my plans and ideas organized because I jot them down in so many different places!

While this unit was mostly things I already practice as a new teacher, I really liked the idea on the pretest to see where everyone is.  I usually spend some time talking to try and bring them out of their shell and lighten the room a little but the pretest is something I would be able to take some time on later and learn about them.

The need to embrace technology not only in the classroom but in every day life is vital.  For me, it's a struggle everyday to keep up and I find sometimes my students teach me more than I do them!
