Don't assume students are not wanting to learn

When students have challenges in reading/learning, their motivation to learn drops.

Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small. Be prepared and self review for continuous improvement.

Have a system to deal with class distractors. Build a rapport and know the difference from a reluctant learner and someone who is distrupting class.

Dealing with the students requires one to understand the motiviation for the behavior. Are the disengaged be cause they lack cannot connect the dots between the concept and career? Do  they not understand expectations?

Including the student's perspective is key to keeping them engage. It starts with the syllabus and keeping them informed on expectations throughout the process.
