Hi Ursula, "Knowledge, passion and caring" Definitely! These are qualities of best instructor

Hi Anita, Execellent question! There are many Bill Gates in our society. However, we have very few of them in educational field because teaching is not rewarding field as it is now. It is not rewarding because: - You are paid less for tremendous amount of work you do. Remember teachers are busy all the time including weekends. - The teaching career is not highly respected - One is not famous in the country for being a teacher. I am not demanding a celebrity status for teachers but …. - Etc Making teaching attractive depends on the system (policy, politics… >>>

Hi Anita, That is good response. Let me make myself clear. Obviously one needs degree and experience in certain area. My point is that degree and experience must be coupled to talent with talent weighing more. That is why I would like to differ on your point that goes as "I do agree that degree and experience should hold more weight than talent alone" I say talent should weigh more. To give you one good example where talent outweighs degree, take Bill gates. No degree, no Noble prize in economics or business, yet number one economy and business savvy in… >>>

IT IS NOT DEGREE OR EXPERIENCE, IT IS TALENT AND INTEREST!! Even though degree and experience can have some effect on instructor’s performance, these should not be taken as determining factors in recruiting a faculty. It is all about the natural talent for the subject matter and the interest for that subject and work. Someone can have more or higher degree than someone else and yet poor mastery of the subject matter which can result in poor imparting of knowledge in that specific area. You have to be subject matter expert in order to know simpler ways of explaining, to… >>>

Researching the audience and adjusting your presentation accordingly is one way to effective presentation . However, what would you do if you do not have the chance to know your audience or do not have the time to know them? Secondely, how could adjusting yourself to the audience affect your overall intended objective? Should you compromise your objective? Can a presentation be prepared in such a way that it can fit any audience intended for that presentation?
Dear Gina, Great list of duality (pair), anatagonistic characters, repelling poles, ..... However, why so? Could it be because one part of your talent is developed (used a lot) with the expense of the other?? I think so. I do not see any natural cause of the above contradicting pairs

Such students should get special treatment not only by instructor but also by someone trained in that field and the school should step in. Student with learning disability can frustrate both an instructor and other students since lots of time and attention is spent on them. The solution is that extra hours should be reserved for such students in the form of private tutoring which brings them to the level of the class and avoid frustration in the class. I think the Federal law does not extend special treatment for disabled students after the age of 21. The school should… >>>

Every course has its own time schedule. An instructor should finish the course material within limited period of time. However, if say for example majority of your class have problem with the course and you are obliged to take time so that students get the material, you cannot finish the course? How can you handle this problem? Any suggestion is welcome and appreciated. Thank you
I just wonder if IDE and SME complement each other! As a student, I got both IDE and SME, but not a single time have I witnessed an instructor that possessed both. Those instructors that are extremely genius in their subject area tend to be poor communicators. The ones that are excellent communicators lack profundity in subject areas. Why is that?
