I agree that rules and regulations are a challenge. We have to keep up with the changes. There was too much information for me to absorb. Having the option to print the material for later reference was a big plus.

When I worked in the ground campus many years ago, the experience was the main factor in hiring an instructor. This lesson covered "certifications." I find that teaching on-line for a medical billing and coding program requires proof of my certification. I believe instructors should possess a certification in the topic they teach, especially in this field. Diana Wilson

After reading about "Competitive Integrity," one question came to mind. Many years ago some schools would not hire instructions if they worked for the "competition" claiming it was a conflict of interest. Does anyone know if this still is true? I currently work for two schools and this has not been brought up by anyone. I have had other schools contact me to apply. Diana

I worked for many career schools ground campus for many years starting at about 10 years ago (as a second job). Admission representatives would tell potential students that working in the medical billing and coding field would bring them $15 to $20 an hour. In my heart I felt it was wrong because I wasn't making that amount of money working in the medical field. I often wondered why one year later I would see a former student serving me at McDonald's. I was amazed to learn about the "do not call registry" and the regulations about calls to cellular phones. Recently I got a new cell number. Apparently the previous owner of the phone has some outstanding debt. I receive calls asking if this is (person's name) press #1 otherwise hang up. This is bothersome to me because I am busy and do not have time to take calls like this. I decided to press option 1, however, I was asked to key in the zip code to confirm the call. I hung up.
