I like the idea of the course module template especially inclusion of graphics

Our students are not the only ones that need to learn. Teachers do too! I got a lot of good informaion from EL106. I am ready to start applying some of these ideas to my classes.

I have struggled to come up with ideas on discussion posts. EL105 was a great resource for me to learn how to make discussion posts more effective and to do some problem-solving on some of the biggest challenges I have encountered in discussion posts.

I like the idea of referring to students by name. The instructor is showing that he or she is paying attention to what the student has to say. The student are more likely to participate in future discussion posts because they have a sense of recognition.

Communication in the virtual class is as important as communication for a student who attends class in a bricks and mortar setting. The environment should be personalized to grab the student's attention. Students should be encouraged to introduce themselves in the class forum. If students are aware of all the expectations required for the course, they too, will follow the instructor's lead.
I like using VoiceThread. This tool helps students and instructors to leave comments in text or voice. This enhances visual learning through an image-based interactive discussion.

I looked on line some time ago for examples of rubrics. I found that it gave the students good feedback if the rubric is well-done. Using the rubric does not leave a question in the student's mind about the score because each area, weak or strong, is assessed well in the rubric.
