Students do want to know you are an expert, and you want them to be also.

 

It's important to establish rapport with students by showing respect and building trust.

 

It is important to be engaging and fun while still obtaining your goals for content delivery. Find ways that are fun to break up longer or tougher cocepts.

 

We have to be aware that there are such a variety of students in our classrooms with unique needs....various demographics and perhaps social, cultural, developmental or physical factors may impact their learning, and their perception.

 

Use a variety of teaching methods that include opporutnies for routine review throughout instruction.

Be engaging with your students and set that tone for the future. Ensure they connect with you understanding you are relateable and care about their learinng and success in the class.

 

Understand the importance of having clear and accessible guidlines for the course that are written and provided to the student up front.

 

It is importnat to be able to adapt as an educator. Have a good understanding of your audience and other factors such as envirionment that may impact learning.

Decide on your teaching style; this may differ slighlty from your persona that you relate to.

Ive learned that being prepare is essential and on- going.

Deciding what type of teaching style you want to have is important and may need to change based on a number of factors; class size, environment, etc.

Students evaluate your style and you; they go together but they are different.
