I appreciated the reminder to have empathy with my students. I once was in their shoes and I know how life can get hectic. Remembering that everyone comes from different walks of life.
I liked the idea of using 3x5 cards to write down an answer to a class disccussion topic. That way students are prepared to answer when called upon, and those that are not called upon simply have the advantage of thinking about the question and summoning a response from either memory or lecture.
I will likely reward students in a small way for participation or acheievements above what was expected of them.
I liked the idea of students of differenrt ge groups interacting and intermixing on group projects/discussions as everyone brings a unique perspective to the course or topic.
keep in mind attention spans and use differnet methods to convey a message
I liked the idea of having the students sign an acknowledgment of understanding what is required of them according to the syllabus.
Arriving early, and having the necessary tools required for that class avaialbe at the start of class.
The importance of a well outlined syllabus with expectations laid out for the students.
The 5 C's was the part that stuck with me the most.
Also presenting yourself as "human" to the students, I understood this from experience clinically. We must not forget to be human and become robotic.
