According to the module on Managing the E-Learning Environment, I learned that it is truly imperative to know your students so that they can be provided with additional, individualized support and attention, when needed, to assist in their overall success and completion of their online course.  In order to get to know my students, I would have them do an introductory assignment and/or project as well as fill out a questionnaire that would include items that would allow them to share their needs and concerns such as their work schedules, family responsibilities, and quality of internet access.  I would then… >>>

The Engaging Learners Module reiterated the need for me to continue providing my students with timely feedback and to strategically reach out to the students that are often hesitant to participate in group learning activities.  In order to address to the first item stated above, I plan on using one (1) specific day of the week as my grading and commentary day which will allow me an opportunity to review students’ work, assess it, and provide them with explicit details about their performance on the given task as it correlates to the expectations stated on the rubric.  With regard to… >>>

The Projecting Your Presence Module has taught me the importance of showcasing my expertise via a short biography of myself that includes my educational credentials, achievements, and professional experience when instructing via a distant learning model.  Prior to this module, I would have only stated this information on a designated website such as the school and district websites instead of embedding my information into the distant learning experience.  

 

What have you learned from this module and how do you intend to apply it?

I have learned that it is essential for me to revisit and/or establish ground rules and expectations for online student participation and task submission so that everyone is on one accord prior to transitioning to just the online learning model.  I have also learned that it is vital for me to maintain structural integrity when implementing my lessons online in order to accelerate the progress of my students.  I intend on doing this by having easily navigable, daily activities that build up to more complex… >>>
