As with many careers, updates happen and usually from a response to something else.  If there was an update and it was not known then the issue that caused the update can re-occur and cause a big headache for something that already has a solution.  Meetings held by the institution can highlight updates that have been released or raise awareness to a pending update.  Who knows, you might be the one that knows of an update that the rest of the school hasn't learned about yet.  Going back to a previous module, running an institution and staying compliant is a… >>>

Understanding your institution is so important.  What good is mixing a previous institution with a current one.  Not only would it embarrass the employee, but it could also make the institution look bad to whoever is on the other side of the table/desk.  This lesson, stressed the importance of being familiar with what your school offers to prospective students and any new hires that may come to you with questions.

The information in this lesson touched on the information security by making sure that student records were handled correctly and some of the responsibilities faced by an admissions employee.  As a former recruiter for the military, so much of this lesson reminded me of that time.  Some of the forms required for enrollment are very similar to paperwork for the joining the military, everything doesn't have to be done the first day, but the process can not be completed until everything is done correctly and completely.

The refresher on the terms, Statutes, and rules that this course touched on is good for everyone.  Even knowing everything, It is good to remember the importance of the guidelines for what makes the job as admissions work best of the institution.  Being a student and an admissions employee allows me to see both sides of table and where different responsibilities lie.  So far, this course seems interesting and I am interested in what is to come.
