As teachers/instructors its critical that we vary our style of teaching so that we can allow every student to maximize learning the subject and, as a result, give each student the chance to learn equally.
Teaching is more than just an understanding of the subject matter. Setting the example of what a professional should look like in the workplace and being able to motivate students from every walk of life is every bit as important.
Knowing that it's not enough to be an expert or knowledgeable in the subject matter but being able to engage the students on a personal level and to be motivated and excited in the presentation is equally important.
Variety is the best way to keep students engaged due to the fact that students, especially adults, have a remarkably short attention span.
That student retention has just as much to do with the instructor's enthusiasm for the subject as the student's willingness and excitement about the material being taught.
