Taking field trips to job sites gets students out of the lab and in a professional setting like they will be working in when they graduate. It's exciting to see in real life what they will be doing and getting paid well. 

Ask speakers from our industry come in and speak to the class occasionally, to share their experiences and range of income in our industry to get the students excited and motivate them. 

Being prepared, organized allows the students the opportunity to have a better understanding of the subject and a better learning experience. Arriving early can be beneficial to the students and the instructor, introducing themselves, getting to know everyone a little and getting a feel for the energy of the room before class starts. 

I learned that being professional and being yourself, bringing your own personal style of teaching is important and to be prepared and be passionate about the subject. Make it exciting and fun for the students and they will be hungry for the next class.
