What is the best way to motivate students individually without the rest of the class thinking that you only care about one student.

I agree this course had alot to offer and lot of strategies to keep students involved. I think keeping students motivated is the most important part of class learning.

I have ahd several students , mostly older adults, who come to class expecting to receive hand outs or an easy road because they paid whatever dollar amount to be here. Some of them think that since they are paying for school they should have someone hold their hand and tell them every little answer and what to do and how to do it.

Yes getting to know the students and using who they are and what they do as a tool to keep the class engaged is amazing. I do this and get results. And the students work better with eachother aswell.

Thats the hard part about playing games. Being able to keep up with the different types of people coming into the class. Thats why its good to use the trial and error method. Try one thing and if it doesnt work, change it up.

Sometimes its hard to be fair when it comes to punsihment. One student might have made the other stundents be involved with whatever happened. Or sometimes you have to show the class that things like that dont fly in my class so you use someones punishment as an example.

Sometimes its hard to determine the proper ways to deal with a student whos being disruptive. How or what can we do to deal with these type of students without having to ignore the rest of the class?

Thats true. But it doesnt help when we have to shorten the three weeks due to holidays. makes even more challenges.
