About me

Served in Navy Submarine Force for 21 years. Retired and went to trade school and received my Airframe and Powerplant license. I have been working on aircraft for about three and a half years. Decided to give back by entering into the teaching career. I've always had a passion for helping the next generation. This is a new experience for me and look forward to growing in teaching education. In my spare time, I love to spend time with family, listen to music, sing, and watch sports. I am a God-fearing man and a Christian.

Activity

Take time to prepare for lesson plans and use different teaching styles to reach as many students as possible. Take notes on how effective your teaching is and build on what you can do better. You should keep lectures to a minimum of 10 - 15 minutes to keep the attention of the students.

Build a rapport with your students by letting them know about you and learn about them. Also, that sets the tone for how your students see you as a person and instructor (professional).

Be prepared (review course objectives, write checklist, use ABCD of instruction)

Set the tone of the classroom and hold students accountable.

As an instructor you should always model professionalism and lead by example. Always look for ways to grow and develop yourself and your students.

The five C's of an effective instructor: Credible, Candid, Compassionate, Committed, and Clear

Instructor Competencies: Technical, Professional, and Personal

I still love the quote of the 6 P's, "Purposeful Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance." In the military we said it just a little bit different.
