I am on my second career.  First one I retired as a Navy Lieutenant commander. I have been a nurse all my working life, and my last assignment was  as a Perioperative nurse at Naval medical Center San Diego, CA.  I specialized in quality and patient safety (CPHQ, CPPS, CNOR).  I had a great career in the Navy, traveling all over the world and living abroad.  I am currently into Yoga, health and wellness, and gardening.  I am very excited to shared my knowledge and experience with young minds especially when it comes to human factors limits, outcome bias and what we have learned from root cause analysis about medical errors.

I think students may not understand the differences between accreditation, and transfer of credit however, I think we can assist them with understanding what they need and who is best suited to help them. For the school to stay in compliance, as instructors this module really helps to delineate policy.

I learned that its best to seek the experts to ensure school stays in compliance, and admission should be focus on admitting students while financial aid office should receive all the questions related to financial aid. Once we start to be "helpful" we are bypassing the internal administrative protocols which protect the student and the college.

This module taught me to use government approve site for employment information. As economy changes, my story of employment during very prosperous times, may not apply when the economy is in a recession. So, when dealing with impressionable young minds is best to be very careful not to falsely reassured them.  The challenges are real.

I think its important to understand the role of compliance because we do hear during political platforms the burden of student debt. This module has put it into perspective on how we play a role in managing student expectations from the start with transparency through their entire education process.

I am new faculty and just thinking back from my past experience as a student completing online degrees; It is challenging; however, I do believe is very do-able to engage learners - influence, persuade, inspired and energize students.

I think one of the things I will have to go look up is the Institutional Policies on how to handle disruptors/ Intimidators or Procrastinators so that the course does not deviate from the learning objectives.

I learned the challenges of Synchronous and Asynchronous discussions - I think its important to know which one is best for the students based on number of participants and geographical area. There are so many details for instructors to keep in mind in order to be effective and efficient in delivering materials.

Connection is one of the most rewarding experience and a basic human need. By having the Biography of students as as well as the instructors it helps to see each other in a full context and not merely on superficial traits.

AS I go through this online training, I recognize many of the challenges students may face. I have experience getting locked out from quizzes, how some training requires 100% while others only required 70% with multiple attempts.  It is imperative to have the technical and personal support to alleviate frustration and avoid discouraging students.

Always considering the different learning methods varies by each individual as well as the capacity to be attentive greater then 15 minutes are important aspects to keep in mind. To get an engaged audience its important to vary method to allow for maximum participation without overburdening their capacity for attention.
