I appreciate all types of learners and feel that as an instructor it is our responsibility to ensure that the student is learning according to their style. I find it challenging and fun to figure which of the students learn from which style.

I feel that in an adult classroom evniorment it is alot of a balancing act. Getting all age groups to form together is sometimes difficult, but listening to them and taking the time out to have the group get to know each other I have found is a tremendious help and more often than not, sets them up for success as a whole unit rather than a few individual successes.
I have found that if you take the extra time to show the studnet by different examples and if you pull from many different sources and come up with a thread that is similar to the studnet you are able to showt that keeping in touch with the current trends and continuing your education outside of class is very important.

with regards to the student how do you assess them everyday without calling them out - grades are good but how do you help the student who knows the information but does not test well
I often find that if you just lead by example the studnet will often follow.

I also find espically with the Gen X and Gen Y group of students that it is best to repete and talk to what you are doing during the demonstrations

I would like to know if you have any student focused ideas or games to have at orientation that can be started and then completed on the first few days of class. Ways in which to inusre that we have a strong start...

I would like to know what is the best atmosphere to have duing orientation to not just excite the studnet but also to set them up for success and let them know what it is to undetstand what type of education they are signing up for, without loosing their intrest.

the most difficultly that I personally have seen is for the students that are here from anohter state and are no longer close to home. They are te ones who when things get tuff, are the ones who want to quit. they usually come up with a dozen reasons other than that to leave but in the end that is usually what it is. What can you do to insure the student that leaving home was the right choice?
