I have been teaching online for nearly 20 years and this is the first time I have been introduced to different types of students/participation. I had never heard of noisy students, etc. Super interesting.

I had not thought about holding synchronous chats with individual students in the class. This would be a great way to really connect with the students on a more personal level.

I always post an introductory video so that students can get a feel for my personality in addition to a brief biography of my professional and academic experience.

As an instructor, I need to not only be the subject matter expert but, I also need to understand the CMS through which the course is being delivered. It is important to keep the lines of communication between myself and the students open in order for them to be successful.
