With a course repository and reusing specific components, it provides an opportunity for the online instructor to chunk the course into modules and later pick and choose which modules or parts of a module may be appropriate to use in a variety of other courses. This archive assists in the content development process and migration from one semester to another.

The instructor’s goal regarding workload is to develop procedures and policies that encourage, force, push, or motivate students to communicate with you and their peers in the online classroom.

Organization also takes the form of scheduling specific time for virtual office hours. Experienced online instructors find this practice to be a timesaver for answering questions and meeting learner concerns. Online instructors also utilize the strategy for anticipating and setting aside time for periods when there will be either heavy grading or heavy discussion periods.

Online courses may be completed in 8, 10, or 15 weeks, so there are also inconsistencies in the length of the course. Also, the content of an online course impacts the workload.

Many instructors regard the seven principles for learning developed by Arthur Chickering and Stephen Ehrmann in 1996 as basic guidelines for teaching. 

When teaching in an online environment, communication tools are essential components for student success. There are a variety of social networking tools to assist in online learning. Examples of social networking sites include Facebook, Twitter, Ning, LinkedIn, and others.

Any helpful tips for those experienced with Edgenuity Distance Learning Platform?  We had a 5 day crash course

prior to beginning distance learning in March.  I have taken many of the webinars Edgenuity offers.  I was hoping

someone would have some additional information that may be useful.   Thank You!
