Recognitions and Presentations

Past President of the Greater Dallas Council of Teachers of English 1969,

Recognized by the Texas Education Agency for an innovative program “On Your Own” utilizing the language skills: reading writing, listening, grammar and word puzzles.  This program led to the W. H. Gaston School being selected as a demonstration school which brought teacher from all over Texas to observe the program.

Made presentations on the “On Your Own” program at Hurst Euless Bedford annual English workshop.

Selected Teacher of the Year for the Quinlan Independent School District 1998-99

Served on The Eastfield Committee which redesigned the English 1302 curriculum for Hybrid Classes, 2007.

Activity

I plan to use an icebreaker described in one of the modules to help get students involved early in the class and to demonstrate how such interaction can help with class assignments.
