Activity

I really like the ideas of the BINGO for vitals, nurse interventions, and disease processes. I also like the idea of giving them cue cards to answer through out the day. I am not sure non-verbal hand gestures are the best. In a world of transparency and patients knowing students are taking care of them. It could be reassuring that not only the facility, but the instructors are showing a culture of do no harm but reassure that the school is doing everything to teach proper techniques to our students.

I learned that actively involving the students will go far in them remembering how to do things or where they can find critical supplies when performing tasks. I like the idea of the clock as well as the assessment group by dividing the students into groups and giving them a timed task.

I learned that motivation is key to student learning. The reason the student want's to learn and the "why" they are in school would work especially if they are an older student returning to the educational environment. Offering different types of motivation throughout the classroom whether it is extrinsic or intrinsic will provide positive results in the learning environment as well.

Security is important for student learning and comfort. Students who feel comfortable are more confident and achieve improved learning outcomes. Autonomy is the student's belief about the amount of control they have in the learning process. Balance is important for the student and the instructor though. This autonomy will also improve learning outcomes.

Active learning is participation by the students in a learning environment other than sitting and listening to a lecture given by an instructor. This can be accomplished by having the students participate in discussions, group projects, flipped classrooms, etc.

The importance of active learning is it allows the students to learn by collaboration, problem-solving, and cooperation. In the online environment, discussion boards, interactive programs allow the students to actively participate and become responsible for knowledge gained.
