It is very important that if a student wants a family or relative to know information regarding school they should make sure to fill one of these out. In the case a person should come in asking about a student and there is no FERPA than it could put the student and school at risk.

Never use terms that are not appropriate for the information you are providing to the student. It gives them false information and misrepresents the school.

Its always best to be honest and upfront with your student and help them in anyway you can and staying within the guidelines.

After the Course

I learned a lot regarding rules and regulations of what we can and cannot do. Things are a lot clearer as a receptionist as to what we can and cant tell people over the phone. It was a great learning tool although long but very informative. I think its good to learn more about the laws and the company you work for.
