A student can pick up on the fact that you are using a script. A guideline is much better and if we ask good open ended questions, the student will provide us with much of the information without a script. Most important thing, be yourself and the student will know that, follow a script and they are not likely to come in to meet with you.

I agree, as the student asked about business and then the person did not answer the question, instead he went off in a completely differend direction. I normally will ask their name and immediately talk with them about the business program and find out their contact information at the end of the conversation

Explain that an education is an investment and if there are scholarships available tell the prospect about them and any other financial options available that may cut down on the cost.

Find out exactly what the issues are and talk with student accounts to see if there are any viable options.
