The student is a cash pay student. Mother pays the bill. The mother questions the amount because of a mistake in FA. Do we need to get a FERPA on a student even if the mother came in with the student and signed the FA paperwork, that she would be making the payments?

This goes back to the previous forum 2. Honesty is the best policy. You can never go wrong with a student if you provide them the tools you are giving to do your job as a admissoins rep or career services rep.. example: catalogs, program slicks ect.

As I have always been taught, honestly is always the best policy. This does not change with students. Some employees like to sugar coat some discussions with students, but we are enrolling students to be adults. Being completely honest with them, about whatever question they have, is the best policy.

However, the candidate passes the entrance exam. The registration fee is not paid because the candidate lives in a assisted living center with no job. The DOA allows the student to attend class and the first night the student is in a altercation with another student and harassment charges are filed against this candidate with a handicap. What could have admission done to prevent this?

Like most schools, we have a school catalog that outlines the "rules" for the campus. It has admission guidelines as well. Why is it that some campus' choose to ignore some of the rules but tend to enforce others. I was taught integrity. If we say we are going to do something, it should be done. The catalog is our way of saying we are going to do something. Are there some items in a catalog that can be more flexible? Example: We require a registration fee to be paid before entrance per the catalog. We also require background checks,… >>>

What kind of impact does it have on a school? Example: admissions enrolls a student with no job and no housing. The student meets with FA and the end result is that there is a small gap. The student says they can pay but admits they have no job or housing. After 2 months the student is withdrawn for non-payment.
