About me

With over 30 years of teaching experience, I bring a deep love for education and a commitment to helping students grow. I currently serve as Assistant Principal at one of Oklahoma’s top charter schools, where I continue to teach and lead with purpose. I’m passionate about literature, justice, and creating meaningful connections in the classroom. Outside of school, I’m happily married and share my home with three dogs, three cats, and more books than shelves. Teaching isn’t just my profession—it’s my passion, my calling, my life's purpose, and I am super excited to be on this journey with you.

Activity

A short, simple "How can I help you today?" message can help a student persist and feel care thereby increasing engagement, completion, and academic success.

Emojis and thumbs up can help address the lack of nonverbal communication in online classes.  Feedback should be given consistently and in a timely manner.

Relationships are step one to successful education.  In online classes, I let my pets appear in videos; I post regularly while being very aware of how often my voice appears in relation to how often student voices appear.  I use examples from my experience and community.

It's important to remember that online doesn't mean alone and to have a reliable way for students to communicate and to receive support.
