Search out the students who are not engaging and focus on helping them gain courage.

Precise preparation must allow for flexible delivery. 

Using different methods and techniques will add variety and interest as well as meet the learning needs of different individuals.

Learning student's names and a little bit about them and what their goals are can go a long way. Also, take time as an instructor to reflect on how your class is going. What can you learn from what is going well and from what isn't working?

Creating a safe and inviting atmosphere in your classroom will help students feel comfortable to begin learning. Let your students see who you are as a person outside of your knowledge and expertise.

Remind yourself what you loved about previous teachers. We've all had instructors who made a difference or made class interesting and fun. What can I do as a teacher, using my own strengths and experience, to help motivate the students in a similar way?

Always come to class prepared and ready.

With so many differing personalities, there are sure to be some situations in the online learning arena to challenge us as instructors. It's important to know the policies that are in place to help us manage our virtual classrooms and how to best help each student.

Establishing a relationship of trust between instructors and students can help facilitate a productive learning environment. Students will respect an instructor who can manage their virtual classroom.

These are helpful reminders of everything I need to know and understand to be a good online teacher, but more importantly, what I can do to facilitate the learning process for my students.
