Natasa, Hi! You are absolutely correct, the removal of the safe harbors does mean that compensation of college employees and other parties cannot be based on success in securing enrollments or financial aid. I would like to add that this includes DIRECTLY and INDIRECTLY securing enrollments or financial aid. For example, graduation bonuses were once given by many schools. This is no longer allowed under the program integrity rules because it is an INDIRECT result of enrollment. Cindy Bryant

Lindsey, This is a great question. I will provide you with my answer but I would recommend speaking with your Director of Financial Aid. In the event a student cannot be reached then the school has the responsibility to inform the student of their liabilities, this is generally done through certified mail with evidence maintained in the students file. Jackie, The e-id-cards are an excellent way to auto track supplies and attendance. I am assuming that your system automatically tracks inventory as well. thanks for contributing to the forum. Cindy Bryant

Anthony, Hi! Do you feel that the internet entrance and exit interviews provides the student the best understanding of their federal aid? Why or why not> Cindy Bryant
Jona, Bookstores are a great asset to any school, not only does it allow the student to easily select materials but it takes the burden off of the staff. Cindy Bryant
Tracy, Thank you for sharing your personal experience. As much as I enjoy technology a book in my hand feels natural. Cindy Bryant
Nicole, It sounds as if your campus has a specific communication policy in place. In order to better understand the D-N-C process I would recommend that you speak with your Director of Admissions. ALso, don't worry D-N-C seldom applies to enrolled students. Cindy Bryant

Carolina, Thank you for participating in the forum. Like you, I too attended a traditional college, it enabled me to think critically and to better understand the research and theories behind my major but in no way prepared me to enter the workforce. Students of career schools and colleges are much better prepared for a new career than I was. Bravo, to all of those who work diligently to provide students with the opportunity to become more successful! Cindy Bryant

Well it's that time again the Department of Education is gearing up for negotiated rule making and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.  A few items that we should expect to be placed on the table are gainful employment, military veterans and overall program integrity.  As we recall programs had to meet one of three benchmarks: At least 35 percent of graduates had to be repaying federal student loans, or have total loan debt of less than 30 percent of their discretionary income or 12 percent of their overall income. They would lose eligibility if… >>>

Emily, You make a valid statement here. Basic principles of employee motivation strategies include motivating yourself. The key to supporting the motivation of your employees is understanding what motivates each of them. Management should recognize that supporting employee motivation is a process, not a task. You can support employee motivation by using organizational systems (for example, policies and procedures) - don't just count on good intentions. Cindy Bryant
