John, Great question! There is always a middle ground. Instructors are very intune to their teaching style and abilities. to me the middle ground is knowing and understand the potential of a student. You will have students who are very smart but don't want to do the work and are not trainable. Their values are focused on themselves. You will have students who aren't as bright they are willing to put forth the effort to learn and with time they have a good understanding of the procedure or concept. Tina, Thank you for joining the forum. Your concern has been on the forefront of many people's minds for several decades. Research shows that the "No Child Left Behind" bill has not aaccomplished it's goal. At the end of the day there remains many students who cannot meet the reading and writing standards. Cindy Bryant
