Cullen, In a way the syllabus is your catalog or an extension thereof. Your course outline and timeframe for completing studies should be listed on your syllabus bring everything together nicely. Cindy Bryant

Christine, Many times people feel as if they will be perceived as inadequate if they fail to answer a students question. I applaud those that tell a student I will need to get the answer and tell you later. I always stated "I want to review one of our policies before responding because I don't want to confuse you or myself. It is important that I give you the right answer for your situation." I would ALWAYS set a date to get back with them. Cindy Bryant

Adelaida, Thank you for your response-I also would like to mention that once a complaint is in writing it becomes 'formal.' Personally, I prefer to assist the student verbally and avoid formal recitations of their concerns. Cindy Bryant

William, Hi! Being an adjunct brings it's own nuance to handling school complaints and providing information. It is so very important that you have a 'go to' person to assist you with critical problems. Hopefully, this course will give you enough information to feel more confident in directing your students and you won't have to side-step. Cindy Bryant

Chrissy, Welcome to the forum! You are correct that the student must be a good fit for the school and the school must be a good fit for the student. The only way to determine this is through total honesty. Cindy Bryant

John, Hi! I agree that web searches and social media has opened a new world for consumers. However, I do believe that consumers have become even more sophisticated due to heightened media attention and well published disclosures. Cindy Bryant
Randi, Hi! Thank you for posting this thorough response in the forum. It is apparent that your school is monitoring the use of these disclosures very closely. Cindy Bryant
Daniel, Hi! DO you feel the students truly read the disclosures and fully understand them when they are presented? Cindy Bryant
Erin, Thank you for participating in the forum. How do you feel that these disclosures have impacted potential student decision making? Cindy Bryant

Rodney, Hi! If I understand you correctly you feel that gauging your audience's mood and allowing them to vent will assist your school with exit interviews. What if the student is venting and sharing personal information with the entire audience? Example: Student asks, "Why didn't I get a Pell Grant when I started school? Suzy and Albert got one and they make money than I do!" How would you handle this scenario? Cindy Bryant
