About me

Activity

Often times hybrid student join an online class believing it will be more convenient for them then having to physically drive to a campus. They often do so without prior training in how to function in an online environment. Fully online students go through an orientation process to help them become acclimated. I believe that hybrid students don’t realize the learning curve.

I think it’s interesting that learning outcomes are so set in stone. I believe that the learning outcomes of a course should be constantly evolving based on technology and process of delivery. Currently its a long drawn out process to update them and its often goes by the wait side.

Introducing the use of the internet into the classroom has allowed to students the ability to conduct valid research on projects from the convenience of the classroom. This has worked well for me in group project settings as well as brainstorming sessions. The challenge has been teaching the students what constitutes a scholarly resource.

Yes I completly agree that the look and feel is equally as in important. A student needs feel that they are aquiring thier education from a trusted source. If the look and feel of the environment is not professional and engaging, then the student will lose that trust in believing what they are learning is lagitament.

When I am confronted with this situtation, I offer the ability to audit a class or two to allow them to become refreshed with the content as well as adapt to becoming a student again before they are put into regular classes.
