I've found my bigggest challenge isn't the technology. It's getting the students to respond. It doesn't matter if I leave a message on the discussion board, send an email or do a chat session. They never respond.

I think the main challenge is that of affordability. 25 years ago a person could make enough money to go to college by working part-time. Today, that is impossible.

The business of student loans has gotten out of hand.

It refers to Learning Management System. There are many popular ones out there, BlackBoard, Canvas, etc.

I completely agree. Many of the questions were worded differently and confusing. I found this a very difficult topic to get through.

She asked me not to use the students phone numbers unless I was contacting them about attendance issues.  I know that most students don't listen to the recording either. I would discuss specific clues to passing the class and… >>>

I teach accounting and typically, the only way to really learn it, is to practice. Therefore, I assign homework every week. I also assign an online quize every week. I've found that if I also assign extra problems for them to do for extra credit, those students who complete those extra credit problems do much better on the exams and in the class overall.

I tend to use my power point slides from the book as a launching pad for further discussions. They are not the entire focus of the class, but they do provide the structure.

Developing lesson plans has been a huge help to me. I started using lesson plans when I first started teaching. I learned many tips in this lesson however that I can and will continue to utilize.

I believe that student evaluations, along with self-evaluations and peer-evaluations are an important aspect to continuous improvement.
