Activity

Know who to go to and what to ask for! Find out about your institutions licensing and accreditations as well as transfer policies.  Keep up with meetings and trainings scheduled for faculty and staff and be familiar with rules and laws.  I have a made a checklist so that I can build my resource notebook with everything I am gathering.

I am learning the importance of knowing the ins and outs of your institution, including student services.  From Orientations, academics, housing to graduation and alumni information, strengthening your knowledge and staying informed in all of these areas is important.  It is also key to stay informed in how we are marketing, learn the rules about advertising and upholding Fair Consumer Practices.

Be prepared, have a list of all requirements for the student to keep track of the students needs and to ensure you find out if they meet the requirements.

I am learning the terminology concerned with the role, policies procedures, etc.  Keeping a notebook of terms rules and information regarding the institution we are representing is important as well as being organized and keeping this current.  Knowing the Marketing plan and organizational chart for the institution are also important.  I know that we will always be learning new information and keeping up on this will be important so that we are able to answer questions and provide current information accurately.
