Excellent course. I liked the four types of classroom managers. We all hope we are guides, not controllers. The course explains the types and gives us a chance to analyze our actions in the classroom. This is always a good thing.

Transcending Learning "Types"

Learning styles: I just graded a paper that had no punctuation. I then graded a writing prompt that was one sentence instead of the 150-200 words I requested. The students in both instance said they didn't understand the assignment. I try to be open and welcoming to all students, but guess I missed the boat here.

class clown

I like to ask the class clown to "mentor" one of the more quiet students to try to get the quiet student up to the "clown's" activity. The "clown" likes being asked for assistance.

excuses for late work

One time I had a student tell me his homework was late because someone bombed his car and you guessed it - his homework was inside!
