About me

Hi Everyone!

My name is Christine Ballesteros and I am from New York City. I enjoy reading, singing, watching movies, traveling and biking. I teach mathematics so I would like to learn how to become a better and effective facilitator.

Thank you for reading and I hope to learn things about you, too.

Interests

teaching mathematics, traveling, cooking, eating and basketball

Activity

I agree with you, Kathy and Breezy. I, too, learned many important things about rubrics, what works and what may not work, and I hope to apply these to my future classes.

Hello Simone. Thanks for opening this thread in the discussion. I enjoyed reading about the responses and suggestions. I, too, have tried several ways of encouraging students to attend the Live Chat from trying to change the schedule to sending messages, etc. I think the reason why they do not feel the need to attend is because it is not mandatory and that they have a chance to watch it at a time that is convenient for them. What I do is I try to cover the topics that I think the students need to understand on a Unit, provide some examples and ask them to send… >>>

Before I took this class, I did not think that social media will help my students in the courses that I facilitate. But as I read through the materials, I have learned that if used correctly in conjunction with the courses, there are so many benefits of incorporating social media in my classes. I have also learned that there are many free wesites that are geared to education that we can incorporate in our online classrooms so I plan to make good use of this in the future.

I just completed this training and I have learned many things in this course that will help me improve on how I facilitate my classes.

The EL 108 course was very informative and I have learned many tips on how to commuinicate well with students and how to help them be successful in my class.

I just finished EL104 and even if I have been teaching online for some time now, I have learned so many things about how we can use technology to help our students achieve their goals in the courses that we facilitate. I look forward to finishing more of the courses here.
