Finding out what students' interest are earlier on is important in order to get them on the right track throughout high school.  Getting advisers to meet especially with freshman to get them thinking about what they are interested in and get goals set.

There are so many basic skills students need before entering the workplace.  Sometimes it is easy to forget that high school students might not know how to write a professional email or build their resume.  Trying to incorporate these skills into the classroom is an important stepping stone to getting students into the workplace.

I think my main takeaway is the importance of working to get the younger grades involved in more career awareness activities.

I think that it is important that our school tries to get some of the younger grades more involved in career awareness experience and in CTE programs in general.  The earlier we can do this, the better understanding they will have of their opportunities.

It is important to partner with businesses that have an understanding of what it means to be a part of WBL experiences and how to work with students successfully.  Having a mismatch of a mentor can be detrimental to a student's success.

It is important for all parties involved to be on the same page when it comes to the students goals and expectations.  Students should do a self evaluation prior to getting into the workplace and the adviser should be assessing the student throughout.

The WBL Coordinator plays a huge part in the success of the program.  The importance of getting feedback from your stakeholders each year, in order to improve your program.

I learned that building a strong group of community members that are on the same page is important in the success of your WBL program.
