Student and instructor engagement is vital for a student success. 

Learned that students should feel empowered in their learning environment and not rely solely on receiving that information from the teacher. 

Effective communication is key to online learning. 

Evaluate your own skills when it comes to technology and develop teaching strategies to help students to be successful in the online learning environment. 

Students have different learning styles and it is important that teaching involves a multitude of teaching methods to help with each student learning. 

Advising a student must be objective and document all of the facts. Be an active listener. 

Active listening is crucial when dealing with a student and their concerns. It shows that you value what they are saying and helps to develop a relationship with that student. 

Good customer service goes a long way in student satisfaction. 

Adult learners have multiple stressors in their life and bring an unique learning experience. Developing a relationship early on can help to enable that student to bring issues to the forefront to help keep them engaged.
