About me

Activity

I've been teaching for over 8 months and everday I still get worried. I always, always make sure that I am prepared. From making copy's of my lesson plan, making sure my slides are in order, making sure I have the necessary writing tools. I am so prepared that sometimes I feel over prepared. I still worry that my students will not be able to grasp what I am teaching. I always allow time after class for the students to ask me questions about the lessons for that day.

whether you incounter a student that is quiet, loud, mean or just unhappy the instructor will be able to target those students almost immediately. These students might have issues at home which is why they are acting out. Whatever the case may be it will be worth the instructors while to find out why they behave the way they do so they can respond to their needs accordingly.
Students need encouragement. Especially in this day of age. They are having to deal with the constant change around them for example, our economy, unemployment at a high, world wars, religious difference. These things can impact a persons life therefore leaving them feeling scared for their futures. We need to be that positive person in their life which means constant praise. We as instructors can make a difference.
I find that when you use your own personal experiences to in getting some key points across it makes the student see you as one of them. I always manage to get my students attention when I tell them stories about myself. Of course I only use this information as it relates to the topic we are discussing.

I enjoyed going through this lesson.  It has given me some helpful tool to use with my students. Teaching is not an easy task especially with many types of different personalities. I always strive for new ideas.

As an Instructor I found this course to be a comprehensive study guide that I will use

in my classroom.

I agree with the statement that learning styles affects how a person learns, acts in group settings, participates in classroom discussions, solves problems. Its how we perceive, gather and process information. Everyone has different ways of learning. Knowing what your students learning styles are will make learning easier therefore making it more enjoyable for them to learn, which makes the instructors job less stressful.

I agree strongly about getting to know your students. This helps in assessing where they are as learners. If an individual student was given modifications for homework and tests then it will be important to know this. If the student was used to having specific assignments modified to meet their educational needs then the college may have to do the same in order to keep the student on tract.

I remember clearly my kindergarten teacher in elementary school. Out of all my teachers throughout elementary school, junior high and high school I remeber her most of all because she was always dressed so well and her hair was always perfect and her shoes always shinned. I wanted to become a teacher just like her. Being a "model" as an instructor is very important. Most of the students do take notice.

This course had alot of helpful information. In taking the quiz I felt that some of the answers that I had missed could have applied to the questions.
