That is the ratio I try to adhere to as well although I struggle with it from time to time.  What 'tricks' do you use to remind yourself to respond?  I wish the LMS would send and email to the instructor after a few student posts had been submitted.  

I agree with Donna.  We do what we can do facilitate nurturing learning environment and to resolve conflict especially when it comes to the 'intimidators' and the 'noisy' students.  Some students can still be difficult to reach.  I would be interested in hearing about a success story or two.  What worked? What did not work?  I understand what Carrette is saying with regard to maintaing emotional intelligence and I personally have been tested.  I will be checking responses over the next couple of days.
