It is important to encourage students to take time to reflect on content, lab experiments, and field experiences to solidify their understanding and create a foundation to build questions and knowledge on.

I didn't know how important immediacy was, or even what it was until now. Immediacy is a perception of physical or psychological closeness. When considering teacher immediacy, behaviors that convey teacher warmth, positive relations, and availability for communication are typically the top three things people think about.

Game play learning has been very helpful in the classroom. Allows for problem solving and multiple attempts to try different ideas.

I had a teacher once who wrote awful multiple choice questions on exams. The questions were clear, but the answers were so close in nature that it was hard to be confident in responses. I would often cover the answers while I was reading the question, then formulate a response and find my response as one of his possible answers. Long rant for how assessing students doesn't need to be torture.

I have never mapped out how questions can help students guide them to a bigger picture of a concept. I am going to try doing this in the upcoming semester.

Technology as an addition to classroom learning is becoming more prevalent. I have found that while technology is great, it often fails to work, so I spend a lot of time preparing, and pre-troubleshooting my online courses to make sure that all the links, assignments, and quizzes work like they are supposed to.

Engagement is key to effective teaching. I had never thought too much about the importance of closing statements for students to reflect on. I am going to try to create closing remarks in my lesson plans.

Flipped classroom styles helps many of our students that are limited to attending in person classes like traditional settings.

Our LMS (Canvas) can help me flip the classroom by recording lectures and adding reading material to modules that students can work through before coming to class.

I have been assigned to flip my precision agriculture class this semester to where the students will be watching videos and reading assignments prior to coming to lab where I will check their understanding of the material, and then have hands on activities for them to reinforce what they have learned.
