I love the idea of giving a pretest about what is going to be the content in the course.  Not for the grade but showing them what they will learn.  I also like the idea of them coming to class already having looked over or reviewed the material to be taught that day.

I loved the advice to come early and engage the students with the content they've gone through on their and see if they have an understanding of the material.  

I love the model, manage, and motivate topics.  I also appreciate the suggestion of shadowing other instructors to see how they do thing in their classroom.
