To encourage critical thinking skills, doing activities like case studies, group projects, and role- playing games can really help the student. It's so important to really develop critical thinking skills for students to have deeper understanding. 

Key elements of active learning are reading, reflective writing, displaying, and doing. I found it interesting that having rubrics eliminates frustration on both sides-teacher and student.

Learning how best to incorporate active learning into online classes can be so beneficial to the student's learning process. We see the need for technology to work properly and for both student and instructor to have a positive attitude about the learning process for both to succeed. Breaking up video segments into smaller chunks of 15 minutes or less, including discussions, and activities that focus on critical thinking helps the student learn better.

I learned how important facilitating active learning is and how different it may be from some of the old structured teaching techniques we may have learned from. I love that it is so student centered and focuses on teaching critical thinking instead of just memorizing information.
