Day one I always talk about myself to the class about my teaching past and personal information to try to connect with my students.

Being available to your students is the key to success for any class.  On line instruction is different than traditional instruction and some students require more attention than others.

24 hour turnaroud in commincation is vital.

Discussion questions I have learned is a great way for asynchronous learning.

I like the idea of students posting their own biographies so I can get to know them better.

Just like everythign in life it is all about not just communicating but over communication.
