In Managing the E-learning environment I learned the following:

  • Make sure you are familiar with school policy and procedures for disruptive behaviors. I think it will be important to think about how you will handle certain behaviors in the e-learning environment. Suggestions were given however I was hoping for more suggestions for disruptive behavior.
  • It is important to have a grading scheme created for your e-learning environment.

 

I have learned the difference between Asynchronous vs. Synchronous Discussions and how to utilized them in an e-learning format to promote learning. I learned the 3 top learning styles that inhibit student learning in an e-learning environment and how to foster participation in the different types of discussions identified above. Discussion preparation is important.

 

Things I learned in this module:

  • The strategies we use in the classroom are applicable in an online environment.
  • It is important to reach out the the students that is showing difficulty with learning early.
  • The instructor needs to be engaged and present daily.
  • Provide a video clip as well as text version when introducing a new module/lesson.
  • Create and post model answers to assignments/projects.
  • Since we are switching to a online environment in the middle of the school year, I would have my students share their about their online experiences, hesitations, concerns etc so I could make sure I

Things I learned about Course Delivery are as follows:

  • There needs to be a balance between quality of media and level of interactions within your online course.
  • Learning outcomes are higher when students are activily engaged and not sitting and getting passively.
  • Minimum components students need within a CMS system
  • Even in an online environment teachers will instruct differently the same content
  • Students will need technical support as well as content support to be successful in an online environment.
